Windows 8.1 is a version of the Windows NT operating system and an upgrade for Windows 8. First unveiled and released as a public beta in June 2013, it was released to manufacturing on August 27, 2013, and reached general availability on October 17, 2013, almost a year after the retail release of its predecessor. Windows 8.1 is available free of charge for retail copies of Windows 8 and Windows RT users via Windows Store. Unlike service packs on previous versions of Windows, users who obtained 8 outside of retail copies or pre-loaded installations (i.e., volume licensing) must obtain 8.1 through new installation media from their respective subscription or enterprise channel. Microsoft's support lifecycle policy treats Windows 8.1 similar to previous service packs of Windows: It is part of Windows 8's support lifecycle, and installing 8.1 is required to maintain access to support and Windows updates after January 12, 2016. However, unlike previous service packs, Windows 8.1 cannot be acquired via Windows Update and only accepts 8.1-specific product keys.

Released as part of a shift by Microsoft towards regular yearly major updates for its platforms and services, Windows 8.1 was primarily intended to address complaints of Windows 8 users and reviewers on launch. Visible enhancements include an improved Start screen, additional snap views, additional bundled apps, tighter OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) integration, Internet Explorer 11, a Bing-powered unified search system, restoration of a visible Start button on the taskbar, and the ability to restore the previous behavior of opening the user's desktop on login instead of the Start screen. Windows 8.1 also added support for such emerging technologies as high resolution displays, 3D printing, Wi-Fi Direct, and Miracast streaming.

Windows 8.1 received relatively positive reception, with critics praising the expanded functionality available to apps in comparison to 8, its OneDrive integration, along with its user interface tweaks and the addition of expanded tutorials for operating the Windows 8 interface. Despite these improvements, 8.1 was still panned for not addressing all of the digressions of 8 (such as a poor level of integration between Metro-style apps and the desktop interface), and the potential privacy implications of 8.1's expanded use of online services.

Need for Speed The Run is a racing video game, the eighteenth title in the long-running Need for Speed franchise, and developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts.The game was directed by action director Michael Bay and was described as an "illicit, high-stakes race across the country. The only way to get your life back is to be the first from San Francisco to New York. No speed limits. No rules. No allies. All you have are your driving skills and sheer determination".
Producers Jason DeLong and Steve Anthony stated during an interview that Black Box aimed to obtain critical acclaim after their last game received universally poor ratings. The Run was in production for three years, though previous Black Box titles had much shorter development periods.The Run was Black Box's last game before its restructuring in 2012.

Gameplay
In The Run, players are participating in an "underground world of illicit, high stakes racing," in a race from San Francisco to New York, with stops through Las Vegas, Denver and many other locations, making it the first title in the series to use real locations. The cops aren't the only ones after the player though, as the player "blows across borders, weaves through dense urban traffic, rockets down icy mountain passes and navigates narrow canyons at breakneck speeds."There are over 300 kilometres (190 mi) of track, three times more than Hot Pursuit, making it the biggest Need For Speed game.
The Run is powered by DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, making the game the first non-shooter and one of the first console titles to use the engine, which provides visuals and car physics that "hug the road even at top speeds all built around a gripping storyline." Additionally, Need for Speed Autolog, the Need for Speed franchise's social competition functionality, which was introduced in Hot Pursuit and was previously used in Shift 2: Unleashed, is also back as it continues to track career progression and compare game stats.
The game features quick time events, with the player for the first time in Need for Speed history, exiting their car and traveling on foot. These events won't always be about harsh success or failure states. In some sections there are branching outcomes, so if the player mangles a certain button press, they'll get another chance to pull through.
A new feature also appears in the Run, Gas stations. Gas stations enable the player to change their vehicle during a race to any other vehicle on the same tier as theirs. The player can choose a body kit and new paint colors for their vehicle if it is available. Some vehicles, like Signature Edition or NFS The Run vehicles, cannot have a different paint or body kit installed. For example, a driver may drive their Camaro ZL1, a Tier 4 car, into a gas station and trade it for a NFS The Run edition Shelby GT500, another Tier 4 car. However, driving one's vehicle into a gas station causes the player to slow down to 50 mph upon exiting the gas station, and causes the player to fall behind by about ten seconds. Also, if the player had an opponent behind him, his opponent would take his place.
The driving model of the game is described as "sit somewhere between Shift and Hot Pursuit", not as arcade-styled as Hot Pursuit, but neither as simulator-styled as Shift. The Run employs a large range of real-world vehicles, seemingly taking in the usual mix of muscle cars, street racers and refined exotics, described as "each car presents a different driving challenge for the player."Exclusively digitized for the game is the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Pagani Huayra. The damage system is similar to that seen in Hot Pursuit. The cars can be altered with performance upgrades and visual upgrades, such as paint colors and body kits. There are cosmetic body kits known as Style Pack kits and Aero Pack kits, which affect aerodynamics as well as performance.
An XP (Experience points) system is used for unlocking cars and events in multiplayer and Challenge Series races. The game also feature a Rewind option to allows the player to restart an event to their last checkpoint if they wreck their vehicle or rewind their vehicle from a collision or missed opportunity. Multiplayer

Need for Speed Rivals is a 2013 racing video game set in an open world environment. Developed by Ghost Games and Criterion Games, this is the twentieth instalment in the long-running Need for Speed series.

Gameplay
Rivals features gameplay somewhat similar to the earlier Hot Pursuit, with exotic cars and high-speed police chases. Players take on the role of a Racer or a Cop, with each side of the law offering its own set of challenges, risks and rewards. Rivals features eleven upgradeable gadgets such as EMPs, shockwaves and the ability to call in roadblocks. The game takes place in a fictional location known as Redview County. It's an open world and features over 100 miles (160 km) of open road, larger than that of 2012's Most Wanted, but on the same size as Criterion's Hot Pursuit.The open world features a similar set-up to Most Wanted, with several jumps, speed traps and unlockable cars, as well as shortcuts that are not shown on the map.
Rivals features a full career progression for both Cop and Racer. When playing as a Cop, there are three types of career that can be followed - patrol, enforcer, and undercover. Progression is by means of Speedlists for Racer and Assignments for Cop, which are sets of objectives which involve dangerous driving, maneuvers, and race standings. When the player completes a set of objectives, the player levels up and unlocks new content, and is presented with another set of objectives to choose from.The Autolog system, a competition-between-friends system developed by Criterion for Hot Pursuit and since used in other titles in the Need for Speed series, factors into the progression system, comparing how quickly the player completes an Assignment or Speedlist to other players' times and posts them to a Speed Wall for local and global leaderboards.
Rivals features a new social system called the AllDrive, which allows players to seamlessly transition from playing alone, to playing with friends, described as "destroying the line between single player and multiplayer". This allows players to in engage co-op gameplay as well as play against each other. The game also features a dynamic weather system, which makes "the world feel alive in a much bigger sense than any other Need for Speed game."
Rivals also takes on some gameplay styles of earlier Underground titles in the franchise with cues on aesthetic vehicle personalization, as paint jobs, decals, rims and license plates and liveries can be modified, as well as vehicle performance, and various Pursuit Tech gadgets.[8][12] With the exception for the Aston Martin Vanquish (and many DLC vehicles), all vehicles are only available in either racer or police variant.[13] Ferrari officially returns to the franchise in full glory for the first time in eleven years since 2002's Hot Pursuit 2 (although they previously appeared in 2009's Shift as Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable content), with the F12berlinetta, 458 Spider, 458 Italia, FF, Enzo, and 599 GTO being the Ferrari vehicles featured in Rivals.

Racer
The player assumes the role of Zephyr, a veteran street racer. Well known for his publicity stunts, Zephyr regularly uploads street racing videos as his point of argument that his fellow racers in Redview County should also be free.
Upon his posting of a video of his car outrunning cops, a number of other racers also begin to post their own videos of themselves outrunning police cars. The police force begins to challenge the racers, and in the process, Officer McManis, one of their pursuit drivers, is injured after a racer wrecked his car. After this incident, the police begin to use excessive force on racers.
However, accusations of such force come to public attention, and the entire police force is sidelined while the FBI bring in their VRT, or Vehicle Response Team, consisting of ex-special forces and ex-street racers.
The VRT, however, are no better than the police force at stopping racers, thanks largely to Zephyr and other racers. The VRT only manage to endanger the public, and on the midst of this, new street racers show up, including one by the name of F-8, or Fate, who is seen in the news reports driving a red Enzo Ferrari. F-8 intentionally wrecks other racers, and eventually Zephyr realizes that F-8 is a cop in disguise as a street racer, going out to intimidate racers. Not long after, Zephyr steals a decommissioned Koenigsegg Agera R police car, rebrands it with Zephyr-based graffiti, and proceeds to wreck cops with that car.
As a result of that incident, Zephyr is seen as a Robin Hood-esque character, with public sympathy shifting towards the racers. Later, the police are cleared of their excessive force charges, and return to the streets. In a public address, Zephyr sets a number of locations as places where cops and racers can face off against each other. He also organizes a Grand Tour, a race spanning most of Redview County.
Near the end of the Tour, however, as Zephyr is about to win, a police blockade forms, and he crashes into the blockade at high speed, flipping and damaging his car. A flash news report is broadcast not long after, with initial TV reports showing his car smoking heavily, and paramedics rushing to the scene.
This is not before the cinematic cutscene suddenly cuts to Zephyr, who is revealed to have survived the crash. While briefly awake, he repeats the dialogue he states in the intro of the game, "I am the reality show, the 15 minutes you'll never have." He then starts his damaged car's engine, leaving the player to guess as to what happens next.

Cop
The player goes to his training to be a member of Redview County Police Department. After he completes his training, he is now a member of the police force.
One day, the RCNN (Redview County News Network) broadcast a flash news report, in which a video of street racing was trending online. Also, dozens of racers began to upload copycat videos similar to the featured video, and it was revealed that street racing became viral around the county and they seek notoriety. Because of that, the public accuses the police of intimidation, and they hold several rallies and marches against RCPD. Days later, the Mayor of the county went to the general hospital of Redview to visit RCPD officer John McManis, who recovered from multiple injuries while on patrol.
Because of sense of intimidation, the US Department of Justice has been summoned to investigate the cases. All officers have been placed on restricted duty and are accused of gross misconduct. With no agency available to serve the streets, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Vehicle Response Team, or VRT, has been called in to substitute RCPD while under investigation.
While under restricted force, the player thinks that if they want to win, they need new rules. Since the racers operate outside the law, the player decides to go rogue and infiltrate the racers, by means of impersonation. He uses an impounded Enzo Ferrari fitted with Pursuit Tech to wreck some racers as an officer, while at the same time acting as a racer. He also creates his own alias: F-8, also known as Fate. He uses his tactics to apprehend the racers while as if he were their opponent in their racing without blowing cover.
He becomes popular online after several news reports of him wreaking havoc. As a result, violence breaks more and more. Because of that, the restricted officers have been called to be recruited to VRT. However, the VRT only accept skilled and aggressive drivers, and they do not accept many cops, because they only bring chaos instead of bringing peace. F-8 decides to join VRT, and a test is given to him. After passing the test, he is accepted into the VRT. The United States taxpayer invests millions of dollars to F-8, and expects that it will be well spent.
His mission at the VRT begins: to disrupt the network of the racers. They have identified three known associates of a street racer named Zephyr via radio signal decryption. The three use encrypted radios that ping during communication. Because of that, locations of Zephyr are vague because of the three, so he needs to seize the comms in order to clear the signals.
After that, the radio signals are now clear, and they are able to decrypt Zephyr's radio signal. At the signal, a message from Zephyr says that he wants all racers to bond together to protect themselves from their enemies. The VRT tell F-8 that he is the only one who can take him down. He then hunts Zephyr and takes him down.
However, F-8's car is totaled during the pursuit. He is in critical condition, feared to be killed in a high-speed collision with Zephyr. Even though his name was not mentioned, the sources of the news state that F-8 has been terminated from the force for his reckless actions.
In the aftermath, as it looks like the street racing epidemic is over, F-8, now a street racer, having just taken Zephyr's position as the top racer in Redview County, uploads a video, issuing a challenge to all racers.

Gameplay
Similar to other games in the series, Crysis 3 is a multi-platform futuristic video game set in New York City with realistic rendering of NYC and manipulation of special abilities. Players can choose a gameplay style based on direct confrontation, or a more discreet and stealthy approach in order to deal with enemies.
Hacking is one of the new features which can be used to hack security codes, weapon boxes, ceph technology, mines, lasers and even sentry turrets (can be used to kill enemies and ceph). Another new feature is the ceph's own weapons can now be used to kill enemies, including cephs.

Call of Duty Ghosts is a 2013 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward, with assistance from Raven Software, Neversoft and Certain Affinity. Published by Activision, it is the tenth primary installment in the Call of Duty series and the sixth developed by Infinity Ward.
According to review score aggregator Metacritic, Ghosts received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, with most praising its multiplayer gameplay and introduction of the new game mode Extinction. It was criticized, however, for its single-player campaign, rehashing of familiar concepts, and general lack of innovation.

Setup and characters
The game's main protagonists are the Ghosts, a force of U.S. Special Operations personnel trained to conduct clandestine missions behind enemy lines. The unit is led by retired U.S. Army Captain Elias Walker (Stephen Lang). He is joined by his sons Logan and David "Hesh" Walker (Brandon Routh), along with a trained German Shepherd named Riley, Captain Thomas A. Merrick (Jeffrey Pierce), and Sergeant Keegan P. Russ (Brian Bloom).
Call of Duty Ghosts is set in an alternate timeline that follows the nuclear destruction of the Middle East. The oil-producing nations of South America form "the Federation" in response to the ensuing global economic crisis and quickly grow into a global superpower, swiftly invading and conquering Central America and the Caribbean. The game's main antagonist is Gabriel Rorke (Kevin Gage), the former leader of the Ghosts, who was turned by the Federation after being captured and brainwashed with torture and hallucinogens, and now works for the Federation.

Story
The game begins in the year 2017 with U.S. Army Captain Elias Walker (Stephen Lang) telling his two sons, Logan and David "Hesh" Walker (Brandon Routh) the legend of how the Ghosts, an elite coalition of all US Special Operations units, first appeared. Meanwhile in space, Federation soldiers hijack the controlling space station of the Orbital Defense Initiative (ODIN), an orbital superweapon that utilizes kinetic bombardment, and use it to destroy several cities in the southwestern United States. The surviving American astronauts, Baker and Mosley, sacrifice themselves to self-destruct the space station and prevent the other ODIN satellites from launching their payloads further inland. Elias and the teenage Logan and David narrowly escape the destruction of San Diego.
Ten years later, the United States has fought the Federation to a bloody stalemate along a front that comprises the destroyed cities, also known as "No Man's Land", but it has become a war of attrition as more Federation invasion forces attempt to break the frontlines. However, the Americans stand their ground, fighting near the former US-Mexico border. Logan and Hesh are part of a U.S special unit under the command of Elias and are accompanied by their loyal military-trained German Shepherd, Riley. During a patrol, they spot an American is working with the Federation, Gabriel Rorke (Kevin Gage). Soon after, the brothers are ambushed by wolves and rescued by members of the Ghosts who are seeking their companion Ajax, who was captured by Rorke. Logan and Hesh join the mission to rescue Ajax but arrive too late to rescue him as he is killed by the Federation. The brothers return to Santa Monica, California where the Federation forces invade the city as U.S forces holdout against their assault. As the Americans counterattack, Hesh and Logan reunite with their father who reveals himself as the leader of Ghosts. Knowing that his sons are qualified to join his special unit, Elias recruits them into the Ghosts and they learn from him that Rorke was once their leader and Elias' best friend. However, during a successful mission to assassinate General Diego Almagro, then president of the Federation in the capital Caracas, Elias is forced to abandon Rorke, who was presumed dead, but instead turned traitor after being captured and brainwashed by the Federation and is now hunting down members of the Ghosts.
The Ghosts track down and capture Rorke, but while flying back home, Rorke's men attack their plane and rescue him. The team then is forced to land deep into the Amazon Jungle where they witness a rocket being launched for an unknown purpose. Once reunited and rescued, the Ghosts raid a Federation laboratory in the Andes and obtain data regarding a classified information in a factory at Rio De Janeiro. To secure a path to the factory, the Ghosts destroy the Federation's Atlas oil platform located in Antarctica to lure the enemy fleet away from their objective and sink a destroyer guarding the Brazilian coast. Once inside the factory, the team discovers that the Federation had scuffled and reverse engineered ODIN's technology and developed their own orbital bombardment system codenamed "LOKI". After destroying the factory, Elias and his sons regroup at a safehouse in Las Vegas but are captured by Rorke. After Hesh and Logan are forced to watch Rorke killing Elias, the brothers manage to escape along with Merrick, Keegan and Riley.
In response to realizing that once the Federation's LOKI becomes operational, their defeat will be inevitable, the United States decides to pool all their remaining forces including the last aircraft carrier, USS Liberator in a synchronized all-out assault to take down an enemy space center in Chile while a small team of soldiers boards a shuttle to take over the Federation satellites in space. Once both objectives are completed, Hesh and Logan pursue Rorke to avenge their father and are seemingly successful, only to find out during the aftermath that Rorke survived their battle. Logan attempts to defend his wounded brother, but has his arm broken by Rorke, who announces his plans to brainwash Logan into killing the rest of the team before dragging Logan away.

Kovic, originally known as "Agent W." from Battlefield 3's Campaign; and Chinese Secret Service agent Huang "Hannah" Shuyi. The Campaign also sees the return of Dimitri "Dima" Mayakovsky from Battlefield 3's Campaign—still alive after the nuclear detonation in Paris six years ago, and under the Chinese military's custody for unknown reasons.

Gameplay
The game's heads-up display (HUD) is much the same, composed of two compact rectangles. The lower left-hand corner features a mini-map and compass for navigation, and a simplified objective notice above it; the lower right includes a compact ammo counter and health meter. The mini-map, as well as the main game screen, shows symbols marking three kinds of entities: blue for allies, green for squadmates, and red/orange for enemies.
Players can use dual-scoped weapons, including weapons with different firing modes (e.g. single shots, automatic fire). They can "spot" targets—marking their positions to the player's squad—in the single player campaign (a first in the Battlefield franchise) as well as in multiplayer, allowing teammates to either suppress or eliminate them. Bullet-dropping-system has become much more enhanced allowing players to precise their aiming with the environment. In addition, players will have more survival capabilities, such as countering melee attacks from the front while standing or crouching, shooting with their sidearm while swimming, and diving underwater to avoid enemy detection.
